Detectives in New York State are continuing to investigate one of their oldest cold case murders with a view to finally bringing to justice to the person who took the life of a much-loved young woman.
Dawn Marino was 20 years old and worked as a beautician in the spring of 1981. She had a steady boyfriend, a loyal group of friends and a puppy that she and her boyfriend had recently brought home to their apartment in Pine Island. Dawn’s bright smile and sunny disposition ensured she was a hit with everyone she met.
On the evening of May 16th, Dawn went out to a few bars with her friends to enjoy some drinks. She wasn’t planning on a late night; not only was her boyfriend staying home sick, but the puppy needed to be taken to the vet the following day, too. She wanted to ensure she could be up bright and early to keep the dog’s appointment if her boyfriend couldn’t help her.
