California Police solve 1991 Murder Thanks to Victim’s Desperate Fight For Life
It was DNA under Vicki Johnson’s fingernails that led to the cold case finally being cracked.
Authorities in Northern California have announced they have solved a cold case murder dating back to 1991 thanks to analysis of DNA taken from the victim’s body.
Vicki Johnson was a 34-year-old mother-of-three and lived in the community of Seaside in Monterey County, California in the early Nineties.
However, her life was brutally cut short in the first few days of 1991, with a passerby stumbling upon her body in a horrifying scene that January 3rd.
Vicki was discovered close to a playground in Sabado Park, having been strangled, suffocated with sand, bitten multiple times and set on fire.
Seaside Police Chief Nick Borges told FOX News Digital the sheer violence inflicted upon the young woman appalled and frightened the entire community.
“In those days there was a lot of gang violence but this one shocked everyone — she wasn’t associated with gangs… and to be killed the way that she was,” he added.
