Could Amber Hagerman’s Murder Finally Be Solved?
25 years on, police in Texas are hopeful that new developments in forensics could help solve the case that inspired the Amber Alert system.
This week marked 25 years since the shocking abduction and murder of nine-year-old Amber Hagerman in the Texas city of Arlington, but police investigators believe it could finally be time to provide the little girl’s family with the closure they have desperately been seeking.
Police still working the case more than two decades later gathered in front of waiting press on January 13th 2021 to reveal they are planning to re-rest original evidence in an attempt to build a more complete genetic picture of the killer.
It was not revealed what exactly the evidence is, but local news network NBC DFW quoted Arlington Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye as saying: “The technology is new and it’s advanced we are excited that this year, hopefully by February, we will submit this new evidence to see if we can get an enhanced DNA profile.”
