DNA From Truck Handle Solves Wisconsin Woman’s 1988 Murder
Betty Rolf was killed in a blizzard 34 years ago and hope of cracking the case was almost exhausted, but a suspect has now been arrested.
Authorities in Wisconsin have announced an arrest has been made in a cold case murder dating back more than three decades.
Betty Rolf was 60 and had lived in the town of Appleton with her husband for more than 20 years in 1988. She had five grown-up children and ten grandchildren and was a well-loved figure in her local community, becoming renowned for her homemade bread and pies.
On November 6th 1988, Betty left her house on West Spencer Street at 6:00 AM to walk the ten blocks to her workplace, the former Country Aire banquet hall where she was employed in the laundry department.
It was snowing heavily that early morning and Betty’s brother, who often gave her a ride in his car, wasn’t setting off as early as usual, so she rugged up warm in preparation for a walk she had done numerous times before.
