Electrician Admits to Killings in 1987 ‘Bedsit Murders’
A murder investigation more than 30 years old appears to have been solved at last.
A man has admitted to killing two women in 1987 in what has proved to be one of Britain’s longest unsolved homicide investigations, although he continues to deny murder.
David Fuller, a former electrician from Heathfield in East Sussex, will face trial next month as psychologists prepare a case against him and police continue to appeal for further information.
Death of Wendy Knell
The case began on June 23rd 1987, when 25-year-old Wendy Knell was found dead in her rented bedsit in the Kent town of Tunbridge Wells. She had been sexually assaulted, beaten and strangled before being left on her bed covered only by a duvet.
The previous evening, she had left her job at the branch of SupaSnaps on Camden Road at 5:00 PM and gone to visit her boyfriend. He dropped her off at her home at around 11:00 PM and kissed her goodbye on her doorstep.
