Ex-Con Arrested For 1994 Harlem Strangulation Murders
A man has been charged with the deaths of a mother and daughter in New York nearly 30 years ago thanks to DNA.
Police in New York have announced they have been able to charge the man they believe is responsible for the murders of a woman and her disabled daughter in the city nearly three decades ago.
Sarah Roberts was 57 and lived with her daughter Sharon, who had developmental disabilities, in an apartment in Harlem in 1994.
On February 20th, Sharon’s home care assistant grew concerned after being unable to reach either of the women by telephone and entered the property to check on them at around 10:15 PM.
To her horror, she found Sarah dead from strangulation in one bedroom and Sharon also deceased in the other. Sharon still had the woollen sock that had been used as a ligature around her neck, the New York Post reported.
The front door was unlocked and there was no sign of forced entry, suggesting the killer either knew the women or was able to access a key.
