Authorities in Texas have announced a suspect has been arrested in a violent cold case murder dating back more than four decades thanks to advanced DNA testing.

Carol Joyce DeLeon, 18, had graduated from Thomas Edison High School in San Antonio on May 28th 1981 and went out to a nightclub to celebrate on June 3rd the same year.

Dumped by the roadside

Little is known about who she was with or what happened next, but Carol was never seen alive again. On June 4th, her nude body was discovered dumped by a rest area along I-35 with her blouse and bra pulled behind her head.

According to a warrant obtained by KENS5, the victim had been shot an incredible six times in the head with a .25 caliber firearm. The autopsy report showed another chilling detail: bruising around her neck indicated she had been forcibly held down or restrained while she was shot.

Unfortunately, the body discovered by the rest area was not linked to Carol at the time. It is not known if she was properly registered as a missing person or if there was some failure in communication between police forces, but…
