Florida Police Revive 1984 Missing Persons Case
Carla Roberson was 19 when she vanished in Pensacola.
A 37-year-old missing persons case has been brought to light again as police hope to finally find answers concerning what happened to a Pensacola teenager who vanished without a trace.
Escambia County Sheriff’s Office has said it wants to bring awareness to one of its longest-running cold cases with a view to finding someone who knows something.
Carla’s disappearance
Carla Roberson, 19, came from Alabama and had just finished her sophomore year at college when she decided to visit her aunt and uncle in Florida for some rest and relaxation. The plan was for her to spend a few weeks at their coastal home before returning to school refreshed for another year.
On May 8th 1984, Carla told her aunt she was heading out to buy a book before going to Fort Pickens beach to read and sunbathe. She had also mentioned planning to meet a friend during the trip.
However, although she had said she would return by 5:30 PM at the latest, Carla disappeared. Her car was discovered in the Park West parking lot on Pensacola Beach a day later and her towel, pocketbook and shoes were found on the beach alongside a set of footprints leading to the water.
