A cold case murder in Roswell, New Mexico has been suddenly solved after police received a phone call from the killer himself asking to turn himself in.

Tony Peralta will now face first-degree murder charges for the killing of his one-time landlord William C Blodgett Jr, whose disappearance had been a mystery until now.

William vanishes

Roswell Police Department first received a call from Greg Blodgett at the start of January 2009 to say he was concerned about the wellbeing of his father William. According to Greg, no one had been able to get in touch with William since just before Christmas of 2008, which was particularly unusual.

Furthermore, he had not been to his neighbour’s house to feed her dogs while she was out of town as he had previously arranged.

When investigators went to the property he shared with a tenant, they found no sign of anyone at all. Belongings had been abandoned, as had food in the kitchen and refrigerator and William’s car. Although there was no indication of foul play, William himself had disappeared without a trace.
