Hi Shannon, thank you for reaching out about your sister. For me, my main interest is in how forensics can help to finally solve 'cold cases', sometimes many years after they originally took place. I was reminded of Sheila after seeing a repeat of a TV documentary on Discovery (I think, possibly C+I) and wanted to look more into how DNA had recently helped to catch her killer. There was a case that occurred in this country (the UK) in the 1990s when I was a young teenager that really frightened me at the time - her name was Billie Jo Jenkins and her murder has never been solved. I was around the same age and I think I have since been drawn to cases where, eventually, the truth has come out, usually as a result of new DNA techniques, forensic science and, sometimes, a detective that sees cold cases as more than just a box on a shelf but as a person with a family that deserves answers. I hope this answers your question and I hope I haven't caused any offence in retelling Sheila's case. I'm sorry your sister was taken from you far too soon and in such a dreadful way.
