‘I’m Being Watched’: Who Killed Kimberly Rigsbee?

Life hadn’t been easy for 22-year-old Kimberly Rigsbee as the autumn of 1993 approached. Her husband Donnie had been killed in a motorcycle accident just months before, and she was now raising their one-year-old daughter by herself.

However, she couldn’t have imagined that as she went out to run an errand one day, she would be callously murdered and her baby girl left orphaned. Today, nearly three decades on, police and Kimberly’s family are still seeking answers about what really happened that day.

Gunned down

Kimberly lived in Durham County, North Carolina, with her daughter Brittany, and she had gone out in her pickup truck on October 7th 1993 to take some trash to a nearby dumpster.

She never made it. Detectives at the Durham County Sheriff’s Office soon received a call from someone telling them a woman had been found dead in a vehicle at the side of the road.

Then-detective Steve Rigsbee hurried to the scene, as he had been mistakenly notified that one of his relatives was involved. However, when he got there, he discovered the victim was Kimberly, who…
