Kidnapped From the Car Wash: The Disappearance of Christine Eastin
The teenager vanished in 1972 and was never heard from again, although she is now presumed murdered.
Police in the Californian city of Hayward have said they still hold out hope of one day solving the disappearance and presumed murder of 19-year-old Christine Marie Eastin, who vanished from a public car wash late at night.
The teenager had borrowed her boyfriend’s car to go out shopping with a friend on January 18th 1972, and had diligently said she would wash it before returning it.
Where is Christine?
Christine dropped her friend off after their shopping trip and returned home, then headed out again around 10:00 PM to stop off at Charlie’s Car Wash on Mission Boulevard. The plan was to run the quick errand and then drive the blue 1969 Ford Maverick to her boyfriend’s workplace to both pick him up after his shift and return the vehicle.
However, Christine failed to show up. The boyfriend waited until midnight and then called her house to see where she was, only for Christine’s mother to tell him she had left hours ago. The worried mother drove to the car wash herself and came upon a disturbing sight.
