Killer Confesses to 2002 Stabbing Murders After Cigarette Butt Pins Him to Crime Scene

The former boyfriend of a woman murdered alongside her young son more than 20 years ago has confessed to the killings after DNA unequivocally linked him to the scene of the crime.

Monica Rollins was just 23 in 2002 and lived in Alabama with her two sons, aged six and three respectively. She was also eight months pregnant with another baby, who was due that October.

However, when her loved ones realised they hadn’t heard from her in a couple of days in September, they went to her Heflin home to see if anything was wrong. There, they discovered a devastating scene.

Monica had been stabbed to death, as had six-year-old Dalton. The shock of the brutal attack had also caused her to go into early labour, and the baby had been partially delivered before he too died.

The sole survivor was three-year-old Aaron, who was discovered hiding in a closet upstairs in a bid to escape their attacker.
