It was January 1995, and Brenda Miller from the small town of West York, Pennsylvania, had awoken to find her 19-year-old daughter Erica missing.

However, little did she know that the teenager had already fallen victim to a dangerous con — and that her betrayer was someone the family had trusted. It would take a revelation from two acquaintances of the killer to reveal what really happened to Erica.

Erica vanishes — on secret business?

On the evening of January 17th 1995, Brenda Miller had been at home with her boyfriend Manuel and Erica, but had gone to bed at around 9:30 PM. She later testified that she heard Erica downstairs and assumed her daughter was talking on the phone, as she could hear part of a conversation taking place.

Brenda thought nothing of it and went to sleep, but Erica was nowhere to be seen when she got up the next day. What was more, her personal effects had been left in the living room.

A search was quickly mounted for the young woman, and police soon turned up some…
