Man Convicted For 1986 Green Bay Swamp Murder
Discarded beer cans and cigarettes caught the killer of 22-year-old Lisa Holstead, police revealed.
A man has been convicted for the 1986 murder of a young woman in Wisconsin after genetic genealogy was used to trace him via his family tree.
Lou A Griffin, 67, pleaded no contest to homicide by reckless conduct in the death of Lisa Holstead, 22. He will be sentenced for his crime in March 2023.
A life cut short
Lisa was last seen alive by her boyfriend John Sot as he drove her home from a family gathering on August 11th 1986 at around 2:30 AM. The couple had an argument and the young woman got out of the car and ran away into the dark.
Witnesses placed her getting out of John’s car in the vicinity of Mason and Taylor Streets, but that was the final sighting and she failed to return home that night.
Around 12 hours afterwards, construction workers driving past a marshy section of the Ken Euers Nature Area in Green Bay spotted what looked to be a hand sticking up out of the water.
