Man Indicted For Nurse’s Murder in Florida 43 Years Ago

The cold case was Miramar’s oldest, but police believe they finally have justice for Evelyn Marie Fisher-Bamforth.

Police in the city of Miramar in Florida have announced the arrest and indictment of a man for the murder of a nurse in 1980.

Ronald Eugene Richards, 75, has been linked to the killing of 32-year-old Evelyn Marie Fisher-Bamforth more than four decades ago through DNA evidence he left at the crime scene.

A brutal slaying

Evelyn was a registered psychiatric nurse and lived at the Haven Lake Estates in Miramar with her husband John Bamford.

However, their peaceful life together would be forever shattered when John arrived home on January 22nd 1980 to find police tape criss-crossing his front door and officers swarming the scene.

“And that’s when I saw what I saw, which was furniture disturbed, cushions disturbed, and then I walked back to the bedroom,” John told WSVN.

Evelyn lay dead, having been sexually assaulted and beaten. The attack was so brutal that half of the bed was soaked with her blood. Investigators surmised the assailant had likely climbed through the window of the couple’s trailer, which…
