Maryland Police Appeal For Public’s Help Solving 1986 Murder
Janice Potter’s killing is a cold case, but investigators hope fresh leads could change this.
Police in Baltimore County have appealed for fresh leads in a cold case murder dating back to 1986 in the hope of finally bringing the perpetrator to justice.
Baltimore County Detective Trae Corbin said the killer of 24-year-old Janice Lynn Potter has walked free for 37 years, but she has never been forgotten by investigators.
“Anything, whether it’s small or large, can help us solve this case. And that’s why we’re asking anyone to contact our detectives,” he told CBS News.
He slipped inside to take her life
Janice grew up in Lutherville but lived in Rosedale’s Talister Court with her husband William, and she was newly pregnant with their first child.
On April 15th 1986, the 24-year-old mother-to-be had come home from work and eaten her dinner, then gone downstairs into the basement to watch television.
William was heading out to a night class at 6:00 PM, but Janice asked him if he would open the sliding glass doors to the basement before he left, as she had cranked up the woodburning stove too much and the heat…
