New Jersey Police Make Arrest in 2013 Murder Case
A suspect has been identified in the killing of Carol Reiff, almost exactly a decade since the crime was committed.
Authorities in New Jersey have announced they have cracked a cold murder case dating back to 2013 using improved DNA techniques to extract evidence.
It was June 21st 2013 when Gloucester Township Police Department received a call from the family of 59-year-old Carol Reiff from Blackwood, New Jersey.
They were supposed to go on a trip together and Carol hadn’t shown up, which was extremely out of character. In fact, they hadn’t heard from her since the day before, when she had told them she was heading out to visit some other relatives in Manahawkin.
Officers dutifully performed a welfare check at the Lakeview Apartment Complex where Carol lived, but were concerned when they found no sign of her even though her car was in the parking lot and her keys were still at home.
It wasn’t until June 24th 2013 that Carol’s whereabouts were finally discovered. Detectives located her remains secreted in a wooded area behind an old maintenance building close to the apartment block and not far from Route 42.
