Police Search Home of Child Missing Since 1985 As Case Reopens
Natasha Marie Shanes was six when she vanished in the middle of the night and it’s thought there may be new leads in the investigation.
Police in Michigan have confirmed they are revisiting a property where a little girl disappeared without a trace nearly four decades ago in the hope of finding new leads.
Natasha Marie Shanes was just six years old in 1985 and was last seen asleep on the sofa of her home in Jackson. Her mother Susan Shanes went to bed in her own room, but awoke in the early hours of May 8th after hearing a car door slamming.
She went back to sleep rather than getting up to investigate — and when she awoke again at 6:00 AM, Natasha was gone. One of the doors was wide open and there was no sign of forced entry, suggesting the little girl had either wandered off into the night or someone had walked in through a possibly unlocked door and taken her.
A search took place of the nearby area in the hope Natasha would be found after having got lost, but there was no sign of her at all. Time was even more of the essence than usual, as the child suffered from epilepsy and required regular medication to prevent seizures and her lapsing into a coma. However, despite an…
