Police Solve Cold Case Murder — But Was There An Accomplice?
Investigators believe Pamela Conyers was killed by Forrest Clyde Williams III, although there is some suspicion he wasn’t acting alone.
Detectives in Maryland say they believe they have solved the 52-year-old murder of a high school student using genetic genealogy.
Officials from Anne Arundel County announced at a press conference this month that Forrest Clyde Williams III is the prime suspect in the death of 16-year-old Pamela Lynn Conyers dating back to October 1970.
However, their closing comments suggested the cold case will not be completely closed — because there is the possibility that someone else might have been involved in the crime.
Pamela disappears
Pamela was last seen alive on October 16th 1970, when she went to a pep rally at the high school she attended before returning home again. Her mother gave her $5 and the keys to the family car so she could drive to the mall afterwards.
According to local newspaper The Capital, Pamela was due to attend a dance the following day and wanted to buy a bottle of shoe dye so she could match her footwear to the dress she had chosen.
