It was August 19th 1992, and 20-year-old Laurie Depies from Wisconsin had been doing an evening shift at the clothing store in which she worked at the Fox River Mall.

The happy-go-lucky young woman was well-liked at the shopping centre and would often socialise with a large group of people who worked at some of the other stores within the sprawling complex.

However, that night she simply planned to head to the apartment of her boyfriend Marc in nearby Menasha, which is now known as Fox Crossing. A co-worker walked her out to her car in the mall’s parking lot, and the two left in their respective vehicles just before 10:00 PM.

Where is Laurie?

Laurie’s old Volkswagen car had a noisy muffler, so Marc, his sister and one of the couple’s friends heard her pull into the apartment complex’s parking lot at 10:15 PM. They even heard her car door slam from their window.
