Australian police have offered a huge reward in the hope of solving the suspected murder of a British expat in Australia.

Police in the Australian state of Queensland have offered a substantial reward for any information that could help them find out what happened to a British man who went missing there more than 20 years ago.

Steven James Goldsmith, 28, was an arborist who had moved to the suburbs of Brisbane when he was last seen in July 2000. He had been living in New Farm but commuted to work in Toowoomba, where he was a contractor for the local council.

Queensland Police Detective Inspector Damien Hansen said Steven’s disappearance remains a mystery, but added that he hopes a fresh appeal for any details from people in the community could help to bring closure for his family.

As such, a reward of AU$250,000 is now being offered for information leading to “the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible”.
