Who Killed Daniel Coverston?
Police hope for answers in the 2009 murder, with the only clue being a call from a payphone.
Police in the Maryland city of Baltimore have made a renewed call for information about the baffling murder of a university student 13 years ago.
Daniel Coverston was 22 and about to receive his bachelor’s degree from Towson University on Valentine’s Day 2009. He had just undergone routine surgery to treat a detached retina and was following doctors’ orders to rest at his home in the 7000 apartment block of Lachlan Circle.
Daniel’s friends were periodically checking in on him, so he had left the apartment door unlocked in order for them to enter without disturbing him. Part of the recovery process was to rest lying face-down, so they didn’t want Daniel to get up unnecessarily.
However, when one of them walked in at around 2:50 PM that February 14th, they found Daniel face-down and unresponsive. It was only when they walked closer to the bed that they realised the young student had been fatally shot in the head.
The senseless crime rocked the community, particularly since no details have been released concerning any apparent motive for Daniel to have been targeted.
